Sunday School is a very busy and fruitful ministry in our parish. Due to space limitations we can only accommodate the children from PreK through 5th grade. We have 4 different groups, each one taught be 2 faithful members of our parish. We use a combination of curricula concentrating on Scripture, Doctrine and Traditions and when appropriate music.

Sunday School instruction begins immediately following Holy Communion and continues for approximately 45 minutes. Every last Sunday of the month the Sunday School children remain in church for dismissal as well as other occasional prayers offered at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.

Please check back in August for start dates and age groups. We welcome all children to our Sunday School, even visitors who may only be with us for one passing Sunday.

Christmas Play
Director: Katina Petsoulis

Every year in November the Sunday School students begin to prepare for the annual Christmas play. The play includes narration, dialogue, singing, and instrumental music. The costumes and props are made by kind parishioners. The Sunday School teachers help in great measure with the preparation for the Christmas play.

Lazarus Saturday Retreat

This is the annual lenten retreat for our children ages 5 through 10. Following the Divine Liturgy of Lazarus Saturday (Saturday before Palm Sunday) the children learn participate in a rotation of learning stations throughout the Church and fellowship hall. In addition to prayer and study, the students learn from a number of activities such as: crafts, baking Easter bread, dyeing eggs, preparing kolyva (memorial wheat dish), decorating Easter candles, and others.

Holy Friday Retreat

The lenten retreat for our youth aged 11 through 15, is this spiritual retreat. The students participate in silent prayer, personal meditation, reading of the psalms, Sacrament of Confession, and a short discussion group. This retreat begins after the Royal Hours of Pascha and continues until the Vespers of Christ's Unnailing and Descent from the Cross. The Holy Friday Retreat teaches the participants the concepts of asceticism (spiritual athleticism) and hesychasm (silence). With the exception of the short discussion group the students are encouraged to speak only when necessary. To further enhance this experience they are asked to dress very modestly in black clothing.
